The Timeline offers a chronological view of significant events in the history of the play Life & Beth. As Life & Beth is related to his other supernatural plays Haunting Julia and Snake In The Grass as well as the playwright's stroke in 2006, these events have been incorporated into the timeline.

20 April 1994
Haunting Julia world premiere at the Stephen Joseph Theatre In The Round, Scarborough, directed by Alan Ayckbourn.

10 February 1999
Haunting Julia revived at the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough, directed by Alan Ayckbourn.

5 June 2002
Snake In The Grass world premiere at the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough, directed by Alan Ayckbourn.

January 2006
Alan Ayckbourn completes his 70th play, If I Were You.

21 February 2006
Alan Ayckbourn suffers a stroke.

17 October 2006
If I Were You world premiere at the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough, directed by Alan Ayckbourn.

6 July 2007
In an interview in The Guardian, Alan says he hopes to begin writing his 71st play imminently; this will be the first play since his stroke 18 months previously.

Summer 2007
Alan Ayckbourn writes Life & Beth.

In an interview with BBC Radio York, Alan Ayckbourn confirms he has written a new play.

11 February 2008
The Stephen Joseph Theatre announces Life & Beth will be premiered at the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough, in summer 2008 as part of an Ayckbourn supernatural season alongside Haunting Julia and Snake In The Grass.

27 May 2008
Haunting Julia revived at the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough, directed by Richard Derrington.

10 June 2008
Snake In The Grass revived at the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough, directed by Alan Ayckbourn.

22 July 2008

21 January 2009
Life & Beth tour begins at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford, directed by Alan Ayckbourn.

Faber & Faber publish the collection Alan Ayckbourn: Plays 5 which includes Life & Beth.

Samuel French publish an acting edition of Life & Beth.
